Bringing an outside visitor into GIFT is the most avoidable failure in the IFSC. The guest lands at AMD, the car is there, and then the whole thing stalls at a security gate because a registration number was never filed. This is the SOP we run on client, regulator and investor arrivals — written out so your admin team can hold us to it, or run it themselves.
T-72 hours: paperwork
- Collect visitor name, ID type and number, host name, tower and meeting window
- File the vehicle registration and chauffeur details with GIFT security
- Confirm whether the meeting sits in the SEZ Processing Area or the Domestic Tariff Area — they clear separately
- Register a backup vehicle at the same time, not after the primary fails
T-24 hours to arrival: movement
- Re-confirm flight against live data; staging time is set from the actual, not the booked, landing
- Chauffeur staged at AMD 45 minutes ahead with meet-and-greet at the terminal exit
- Route via SP Ring Road and Vaishnodevi Circle — 40-55 minutes, avoiding the CBD
- Host notified on departure and again 10 minutes from the tower
- Drop at the tower podium; chauffeur holds in a discreet waiting bay, not the podium loop
Failure modes and the cover for each
- Flight delayed → staging re-runs off live data; waiting held through customs and baggage
- Chauffeur unavailable → pre-cleared relief driver, already registered for the SEZ
- Vehicle breakdown → named backup within 8 minutes of the towers
- Pass query at the gate → control tower escalates directly to the filed security contact
- Meeting overruns → duty-hour compliance checked, relief driver dispatched rather than an overtired one retained
The IFSC pass reality every buyer should price in
GIFT is a gated SEZ. Vehicle supply is not the constraint here — access is. Both the car and the chauffeur need current security clearance, and visitor vehicles must have their registration number filed with GIFT security before arrival.
- Vehicle pass and chauffeur pass are issued separately and expire separately
- A relief chauffeur who is not pre-cleared cannot enter, even in the same car

Does a visitor's car need a pass to enter GIFT City?
Yes. GIFT is a gated SEZ — the vehicle registration must be filed with security before arrival, and the chauffeur needs clearance too. We file both, along with a registered backup vehicle.
How early should we file visitor details?
Around 72 hours ahead is comfortable. It can be done faster, but late filing is the single most common cause of a guest waiting at the gate.
What if the meeting is inside the SEZ Processing Area?
That area clears separately from the Domestic Tariff Area, so we confirm which one applies during the paperwork step and clear the vehicle for the correct zone.
Is a backup vehicle always arranged?
For client, regulator and investor arrivals, yes — a named backup is registered at the same time as the primary and held within 8 minutes of the towers.
